What Does CAT 5 Mean?
Category 5 Water refers to liquids which “represent a serious health hazard” because of pathogenic organisms, radioactive or very toxic substances. As these are considered serious health hazards, they demand the highest level of prevention to ensure it cannot contaminate clean water supplies (general mains water).
Examples of what makes water CAT 5:
-
- Faecal material or other human waste.
-
- Animal waste (e.g. from butchery or livestock).
-
- Pathogens from any source (bacteria, viruses, etc).
-
- Other extremely toxic or hazardous substances (chemicals, radiological contaminants).
What Is A Category 5 Water Tank?
A Category 5 Water Tank includes a physical air gap between the water inlet and stored water. This physical seperation reduces the chances of a serious contamination of main water.
